scott's education & training

Scott has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of California at Santa Cruz.

traditional chinese medicine
Scott has been a licensed practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for the last 12 years. The TCM modalities he employs are acupuncture, lifestyle/diet therapy, and Chinese herbology. He graduated from the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine where his clinical internship included extensive extracurricular training in Chinese Hebology under Master herbalists Dr. Shu Rong Zhu and Dr. Henry Han. He specializes in herbal therapies for women’s health as well as the musculoskeletal, immune, and digestive systems.

Scott has studied closely and taught retreats and workshops with Dr. Robert Svoboda over the last eight years. He specializes in the integration of Yoga and Ayurveda as well as Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle therapies.

Scott’s approach to yoga practice is based on his studies with Hatha Yoga master Sundernath (Shandor Remete) who founded the Shadow School of Yoga. This style of Hatha Yoga integrates internal energetic cultivation practices with Ayurvedic/Siddha medical concepts such as the system of vital points known as marma to free the body of its peripheral blockages and ignite the inner fire or agni. Scott employs yoga practices therapeutically and as an adjunct to TCM or Ayurvedic therapy when appropriate.
